Helping Hands-Building Trees of Hope

At Don Of All Trades, we believe it is important to give back to the community so we have created the Helping Hands-Building Trees of Hope Campaign that benefits Herizon House.

By supporting organizations like Herizon House, we acknowledge that in order to end the cycle of violence we must work in partnership with our community.

To find out more about Herizon House website please visit their website at: www.herizonhouse.com.

As a local business member and resident of Durham Region for over 20 years, we are trying to make a positive difference through our actions.

We have created our first Tree of Hope that is currently located in our office. Our goal is to fill our tree by December 31, 2015 with business cards from businesses in the General Toronto Area that donate items from the wish list provided below. We are committed to making our communities a better place for women and children.

Contributors to Tree Of Hope

In order to reach our goal, we are asking for brand new, unopened, still in the manufactures packaging items listed in the Donation Suggestion Wish List provided below.

H-H Kalina Naturals

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank Marta Raptis Founder of Kalina Naturals for making a contribution to our Tree Of Hope.

H-H Tranqulity Matters

We asked and these two women donated. We want to thank founders Ginette Vachon & Stephanie Atwood Founders of Tranquilty Matters for making a contribution to our Tree Of Hope.

If you are interested in helping us reach our goal, we will keep you informed with regular updates on the progress of our project.

Please get in contact with Don Of All Trades Volunteer Coordinator, Yolanda D’Orazio for the Helping Hands-Building Trees of Hope Campaign via email at: info@donofalltrades.ca if you are able to help.

Gardens By Don Of All Trades : Part 1

310_31035423451_7193_n[1]

You may or may not know this, but one of my most favourite personal interests is working and tending to my gardens. Although some people may not understand the concept of how gardening is a “relaxing” hobby, I absolutely love it and look forward once the Spring season arrives here in Canada so I can get started.

This may sound a little absurd, but I often refer to my plants as my “children” due the amount of care, careful nurturing, planning and daily maintenance involved from the beginning steps of preparation with the introduction of a new species all the way up to appreciating and enjoying them for years to come.

Last year was a little disappointing to come home after working to notice some of the neglect as I was too busy to look after my “Children.” This year I plan on devoting more time to make sure my gardens are in “top-notch” shape as I do personally consider gardening to be a responsibility. There’s something deep inside that is upsetting, disturbing almost “heart breaking” to me to just cut the grass and just walk away knowing that my “Children” plants, shrubs, water features etc. need to be tended to.

One key element to a successful and beautiful garden is to make sure you keep on top of the maintenance involved. If you’re planning on creating a garden in your home, remember that the investment of your time and commitment will show your efforts through the beauty or neglect of your plants. Regular weeding, watering, fertilizing, and pruning will make your garden easier to maintain and will keep your plants healthier, happier, and more enjoyable through the spring, summer and fall seasons.

Everyone loves beautiful, well-kept, vibrant blooming gardens. What some people don’t see behind the picture is the amount of time and care involved in order to keep them looking their best. It’s not just about planting something in the ground and walking away. If your plans include designing a garden and you are a fist time gardener, planning, understanding your soil type, choosing the correct plants that work for your busy lifestyle are just a few things to consider. Think of it as a “custom” garden that suites you as an individual. Creating that backyard “oasis” is attainable and can give you a lifetime of enjoyment and beauty if it’s done right.

I have included some of the photos of my garden for your enjoyment.

Hey!!! We want your comments and feedback. Let us know what you think!

This is My Season

Fall here in Canada is one of my favorite seasons of the year. Absolutely love the changes in the colours of the leaves on all of the trees. It’s beautiful.

Fall tends to make my wife and I to go out and enjoy nature more. Although it’s a short season it comes and goes pretty quickly so we try

and enjoy as much of this beautiful season has to offer. Fall to me is hot chocolate, apple cider, Halloween, pumpkins, apples, cinnamon, potted

mums, variety of squashes and gourds, Thanks Giving, Fresh Ontario Produce, campfires, back to school and long walks in our conservation

areas taking lots of pictures. What ever Fall means to you, we want to know! Answer our poll and tell us why you like YOUR favorite Season.
