Don of all Trades Family Charity BBQ Event Benefiting Herizon House Woman’s Shelter

On Saturday, June  24, we were once again  delighted to invite our friends, clients, local businesses owners, neighbors and family around for our third annual Don of all Trades Charity BBQ Event benefiting Herizon House Women’s Shelter as  it made for a fun and inspirational afternoon and helps the community!

Shout Out to our Volunteers!

This year Don decided on building a very special Helping Hands Food Donation Bin and our beautiful nieces worked very hard to help this bin look even more special by adding their artistic talents and messages they wanted share about giving back to the community. These two beautiful girls did such an amazing job. The bin was beautiful!

We were so glad our good friend Carlo came over to give Don a hand with the cooking. Carlo was a tremendous help and fixed our burger malfunction issues right away! The burgers were delicious. Great job Carlo and thank you!

Setting Up for Our Event!

Thank you Mother Nature for blessing our Don of all Trades Family BBQ Event with the PERFECT WEATHER on Saturday June 24, 2017! After over a month of rain, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate with so many wonderful people for such a great cause!

Our event is getting a little bigger every year with new guests wanting to show their support and just have a good time. This year we added another 10×10 Gazebo Tent to keep everyone protected from the sun and rain.  With a lot of planning and organizing in advance, this day went off without a hitch.

The Food

We decided to keeping it all simple with a basic menu of hot dogs, sausages, hamburgers, condiments, buns, a variety of cold salads, watermelon, cold beverages, freezes for the kids and we saved the best for last…CAKE!

Party Time!

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed their support and donated non perishable food items including raising money at our raffle prize table and for adding new Helping Hands to add to our Tree of Hope in aid of Herizon House Woman’s Shelter.

Don and I are so happy our guests  attended and it was  so nice seeing some old faces and new ones! Our only regret was that our sons weren’t able to attend because of work.  We wished we could have spent more time talking to everyone. These incredible guests helped make our event a HUGE SUCCESS! We hope they all had a good time.  We look forward to hosting this event again next year and hope you’ll come back to join us!

The Best Part…Dessert

Don of all Trades has always ended an event with cake! After all who doesn’t like cake? We love cake! This wasn’t just an ordinary cake. This was a special Helping Hands Cake in both chocolate and vanilla cake flavouring with a custard filling. Did I mention that this  was a BIG cake? A full slab to be exact and everyone who came to this event all had a piece because everyone donated a helping hand to add to our Tree of Hope. Thank you Whitby Shores Metro for creating yet another beautiful cake for such a special event. It was delicious!

 SWAG BAGS

Every guest who attended our Don of all Trades Family Charity BBQ also went home with a swag bag filled with lots of neat items and goodies.

Mother’s  Day Gifts Brighten Holiday for Women In  Shelters

Wednesday May 10, 2017- Angels Who Gave from their Heart!

This past Mother’s Day, we  reconnected our love for our moms and our respect for all women by assembling a very special project initiated by the Don of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services of Durham Region.  Our team  runs “The Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope Project”,   a program that we created which turns donations into supports for women in abusive relationships.

We felt that there was  no better day this year to celebrate our moms by recognizing the value of all women and making a big difference for a victim of domestic violence.

Photo: 11 very special and meaningful gift bags to help send a heartfelt message to women in shelters that there are people in the community that care and that there is always Hope.

A total of 11 Mother’s Day Gift Bags would be donated with the help of some wonderful angels who gave from their heart. Special items that were donated to add to these very special and meaningful gift bags ranged from   journals, adult coloring books, pencil crayons,  chocolates, mini manicure sets, Loofah, Timmy’s Cards, wrap, bows, gift bags, hand creams, jewelry, bath salts, body care products, hand soaps, candles and coffee. Mother’s Day Gifts Brighten Holiday For Women In Shelters

On Mother’s Day, we celebrate our mothers, the woman  like no other. She gave us life, nurtured us, taught us, dressed us, fought for us, held us, shouted at us, kissed us, but most importantly loved us unconditionally.

There are not enough words we can say to describe  how important our mothers are to us, and what a powerful influence she continues to be to us…

In the middle of all the celebrations, it’s important to remember that so many mothers will spend this special day experiencing abuse or taking refuge in shelters.  On any given night in Canada, 3,491 women and their 2,724 children  are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. Every night, about 300 women and their children  are turned away because the shelters are full.

Violence against mothers impacts children too. The effects are persistent and far- reaching. Children who witness domestic abuse can experience learning challenges as well as behavioral and mental health issues that can extend long into adulthood. Studies show that these children can be more likely to repeat the cycle, growing up to become victims or abusers themselves.

This Mother’s Day, we can reconnect our love for our moms and our respect for all women by joining or replicating a program initiated by the Don of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services of Durham Region.  Our team  runs “The Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope Project”  a program that we created that turns donations into supports for women in abusive relationships through the wonderful efforts of Herizon House Women’s Shelter.

We felt that there was  no better day this year to celebrate our moms by recognizing the value of all women and making a big difference for a victim of domestic violence.

Mother’s Day Gifts Brighten Holiday For Women In Shelters!

We reached out to the community once again for their support  and asked for their assistance to help us celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday May 14, 2017 by donating items along with our own to put together in  special gift bags that would be donated to the women at Herizon House Women’s Shelter.

Angels Who Gave From Their Heart

A total of 11 Mother’s Day Gift Bags would be donated with the help of some wonderful angels who gave from their heart. Special items that were donated to add to these very special and meaningful gift bags ranged from   journals, adult coloring books, pencil crayons,  chocolates, mini manicure sets, Loofah, Timmy’s Cards, wrap, bows, gift bags, hand creams, jewelry, bath salts, body care products, hand soaps, candles and coffee.

Our collection deadline started April 3-May 7, 2017. All gift bags were donated on Wednesday 10, just in time for Mother’s Day.

We would also like to mention that  everyone who made a contribution also added a new Helping Hand to our Third Tree Of Hope which we wish to complete by December 2017!

2016 Helping Hands Women's Charity BBQ-Don of all Trades  On behalf of Herizon House, I would like to extend our thanks once again to Yolanda and Don of All Trades for hosting this charity BBQ! The Helping Hands project has already benefited abused women and their children so much! Our gratitude is extended to all of those who donated, attended, and in every way supported this event, and especially to the organizers and helpers. It is because of community members like ALL of you that we can continue our programs at Herizon House.  Thank you from our hearts!!!
