October Helping Hands Women’s Lunch-Don Of All Trades

Hello!

My name is Yolanda and I am the volunteer Coordinator of the Don Of All Trades Building Trees of Hope Program.  I recently hosted  a private Women Lunch  in aid of Herizon House Women’s Shelter-a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides a place of safety where women and children will feel accepted, supported and empowered as they move towards living their lives free of violence in Durham Region.

This event was held  on Saturday, October 24, 2015

The Menu

The menu for this special  Women’s Helping Hands Lunch in support of Herizon House.

There was a turkey lunch buffet style served with all the fixings!

We also had the deserts covered!

Home made carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

 

Apple pie & pumpkin pie

There was no charge for the lunch, instead I asked each of my guests to donate one brand new robe and a set of women’s slippers which would go directly to the shelter.

 As we all know, networking events are great but from my past experiences, I feel there is never enough time to really get to talk and get to know each other.

This  special lunch was the perfect opportunity for women in business to spend some time together, have fun,  connect and enjoy some good food, great conversation a nd help our community.

I was excited and looking forward to being their hostess for this event and being able to reach out and assist women and children in our community who at times, need help the most.

 

 

To be honest, I didn’t think I was going to finish setting up and cooking on time but it all worked out in the end. I hope you all enjoyed the food and desserts. We both hope that you all had a good time connecting with each other and helping out the community. My goal was  that you all left this event feeling good and will hopefully keep in touch with both Don and I and each other. Thank you again!

We hope you all enjoy your swag bags. I love them! They are filled with so much love! Special thank you going out to Pam Little from Pam Little, CGA. Pam has always contributed to our events and helped our cause. Also, thank you going out to Doreen Foote Bradburn, Mary Kay Consultant and Michelle Medeiros owner of HOUSE DREAMER and all local businesses who donated items for the swag bags.

Just finished putting together some special gifts to add into our swag bags from me to you! I hope you all enjoy them and they make you smile and give you inspiration ladies because you are all so wonderful and I am so blessed to know each and every one of you!

Thank you Stephanie Atwood and Ginette Vachon for showcasing some of your Tranquility Matters products at our women’s lunch. I enjoyed shopping, the fact that you both are so knowledgable  and passionate about what you do. It was a pleasure.

 

Thank you Jessica Towers owner of Jessica’s Hair Design for sharing tips on hair care and important information about hair accessories and products. I love the fact that you provide a mobile service that makes it convenient for anyone! Great job Jessica, I really enjoyed it!

It was a HUGE Success!!!!

 

Because of your generosity and support we are able to present Herizon House in aid of abused women and their children fleeing from violence the following items this month of October:

– 1 Christmas tree
-7 beautiful party lite candles displays
– 1 electric tooth-brush with replaceable heads
– 2 cases of baby wipes
– 3 bottles of baby shampoo
– 2 bottles of head & baby body wash
– 3 bottles of Johnson baby lotion
– sanitary napkins
– 12 pairs of slippers
– 8 robes

And a beautiful and generous cash donation of $273 from Ginette Vachon & Stephanie Atwood owners of Tranquility Matters.

I will be putting your Helping Hands on my Tree of Hope. Thank you ladies on behalf of my partner Danny and I for your support. Thank you for keeping me inspired, focused and helping us to continue moving forward by giving back to our communities and making a difference.
